Big Videography Upgrades: ProCamera now provides even more advanced video features, making it your powerful all-in-one solution
With the introduction of Log-Profile recording, you now have access to professional-grade video quality that rivals traditional cameras, all from a device that fits in your pocket. Enjoy a seamless and efficient workflow with features like direct-to-USB-C saving, HDR and ProRes support, transforming your everyday moments into cinematic experiences.
While our team is already working on the development of exciting new photo features, we want to take a quick look back on the new video capabilities introduced in our latest updates:
LOG-profile ProRes Recording
Now you can bring your videography to a new level with Apple ProRes recordings in LOG profile. The highly anticipated feature is available on iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max and can be enabled via ProCamera Settings: Video Quality > Advanced Settings. ProRes needs to be selected as your video codec in order to record LOG video. Once that LOG is active, you will see a tag in the video info panel and naturally the viewfinder preview will look flat and low in contrast.
LOG profile provides flat color and contrast video, capturing maximum details in shadows and highlights, which is ideal for color grading and extensive video edits in post production.
Recording to external USB-C drive
Use the USB-C port on the new iPhone 15 generation to record videos directly to an external storage device. In ProCamera this feature is available for all supported codecs: ProRes, HEVC and H.264!
When recording video – especially with 4K resolution, high frame rate options and/or ProRes enabled – you often deal with very large files. Storing those files on an external USB-C drive is a great way to stay organized and it let’s you maximize the available storage. In order to utilize this new workflow the external storage device as well as the USB cable need to support fast transfer speeds.
