Anamorphic desqueeze
The benefit of anamorphic lenses
Anamorphic lenses capture a cinematic look directly in-camera by horizontally compressing the footage to film or photograph in a wider aspect ratio. Without anamorphic lenses, achieving this look typically involves cropping the frame and adding black bars to the top and bottom, resulting in the loss of valuable visual information. Anamorphic lenses make it possible to capture an artificially wide field of view on a standard sensor. Another desired side effect of using anamorphic lenses are the distinct horizontal lens flares these lenses create.
Using anamorphic lenses in ProCamera
When you upgrade to ProCamera Up, you get anamorphic lens support for both photos and videos. On page 2 of the control panel, you’ll find an option to set the squeeze factor for your anamorphic lens. This will show you a de-squeezed live preview in your viewfinder, allowing you to shoot with the confidence of knowing what the final result will look like.

Desquezing your anamorphic captures
ProCamera makes it easy to stretch your squeezed images and videos back to their intended dimensions:
-
For Photos: Open the image in our editing studio, go to the ‘cut’ section, and tap the de-squeeze factor that matches your lens.
-
For Videos: Open the video clip in our album and toggle the de-squeeze button until it shows the correct factor for your lens. This only affects the video playback in ProCamera and does not stretch the actual video file.
