On April 5th, the inaugural Mobile Photography Awards took place in San Francisco. The photos remain on display at the Arthaus Gallery. The awards/exhibit are the brain child of iPhoneographer Daniel Berman, who was inspired to bring the mobile photography phenomenon out of the digital world and into actual ‘brick-and-mortar’ galleries. Berman’s initiative has been met with tremendous enthusiasm. The response to his call for submissions resulted in more than 2,200 entries from over 100 countries. “I wanted to create a competition that was global in nature,” says Berman. Mission accomplished!
While there were 26 winners and many honorable mentions, here (below) is a gallery of winners that captured ProCamera’s fancy. Continue to see photos >
ProCamera has now finalized tabulations from all sources — social media (Likes and Retweets) and our own judging panel, and we have chosen our iPhotography contest #2 winners. One half of the judging (50% of the vote) came via social media popularity and the remaining 50% from our panel. It was not easy to pick a winner as each finalist’s iPhoto was artistic and worthy of an award.
Attn. Contest Winners: Please check your Flickr mail for details re collection of your prizes.
The results are in, and it’s time to congratulate the winners of ProCamera’s first monthly iPhotography contest! There were many superb ProCamera iPhoto submissions to choose from, and it was difficult trim down to the finalists. Ten photos were posted on ProCamera’s Facebook Page and also on our Twitter feed. A special thank you to all those who voted for your favorites by way of Facebook “likes” were Twitter “retweets.”
