After PROCAMERA 8, our most epic update ever, we are happy to once again incorporate user suggested features. Besides various performance and stability improvements, Version 6.1.1 is packed with fine-tunings and the new capability to delete photos from the Camera Roll.
Delete from Camera Roll
The option to delete photos from the Camera Roll is finally here! A feature some might consider a quick bug fix actually meant weeks of work for our developers. Based on the power of iOS 8, this will be the cornerstone for future handling of the Media Library.
The main trigger utilizes the Automatic Image Stabilization; when using AntiShake (second trigger) Automatic Image Stabilization is always disabled.
Image Stabilization Capabilities
This update also introduces an expert settings option to enable/disable Automatic Image Stabilization (AIS), which is a standard provided in iOS and in use since the iPhone 5s. When AIS is enabled, the camera takes 4 photos with a short exposure time. A software based process then selects the sharpest parts of the different exposures and merges them into one photo. This helps to prevent as much hand shake, subject motion and noise as possible when taking photos without a tripod.
This stabilization method is different from ProCamera’s Anti-Shake, which takes the photos when the device is held steady — without digital stabilization post processing. Based on user feedback, we have built in an expert option to disable AIS, which will result in photos with a maximum amount of detail when using a tripod or when holding the device perfectly steady. When photographing with AntiShake (second trigger), the Automatic Image Stabilization is always disabled.
We plan to dedicate a separate blogpost on just that matter, so have an eye on our blog!
Manual Focus Refinement
Based upon your feedback, we have refined our cutting edge manual focus function. There is a new settings option to permanently activate manual focus. When enabled you can focus with a simple swipe up/down gesture anywhere on the viewfinder. The swipe gesture replaces long-pressing the focus reticle to enter manual focus mode. This is a proposal, so please send us your feedback to let us know if you like the way manual focus is controlled and if you have any thoughts for other solutions.
HDR: Optional LDR Photo saving
You can now decide whether or not to additionally save an LDR (Low-Dynamic-Range) photo along with your HDR photo. The LDR photo being saved represents the medium exposed image in the exposure bracket.
Instagram Auto-Tag
Define a default text or tag for sharing photos on Instagram. That way your preferred tag(s) will be added automatically. You can always change or extend this text manually when uploading your photo.
Video-Sharing via Email and Messages App
We have added a video-sharing function, that lets you send video files via Mail and Messages app. Videos send from your Lightbox will be transferred without any compression. Videos saved in your Camera Roll will be compressed when shared this way.
As with all new iOS releases and updates if you have any suggestions or find a bug then please let us know via the in-app support or email us at support@procamera-app.com. Thanks to our Partner HockeyApp, you can now also send photographs and screenshots along with your in-app-feedback.
